Once you’ve finished Hiragana, let’s start practicing Katakana! Katakana is commonly used for foreign words, as well as the names of foreign countries and people.
ひらがなの練習（れんしゅう）の次（つぎ）は、カタカナを勉強（べんきょう）をしましょう！ カタカナは、外国（がいこく）の言葉（ことば）、 外国（がいこく）の国（くに）や 外国（がいこく）の人（ひと）の名前（なまえ）を書（か）くときに よく使（つか）われます。
💡 Learning Points / 学習（がくしゅう）のポイント
Many Katakana characters have sharper shapes than Hiragana.
カタカナは ひらがなよりも 角（かど）のあるかたちが 多（おお）いです。
The long vowel mark “ー” is basically used only with Katakana.
伸（の）ばす音（おと）の記号（きごう）「ー」は、基本的（きほんてき）にカタカナだけに使（つか）います。
