😊Ako’s Mini Lesson

Japanese Particles: は , へ , and を

Normally, は is pronounced as “ha”. However, when it is used as a particle , the pronunciation is “wa”.

Similarly, へ is “he”. But when it is used as a particle, it is pronounced as “e”.

The Romaji spelling is “wo”, but the actual sound is “o”. It sounds exactly the same as the vowel “お (o)”. “を” is ALWAYS a particle. It is never used inside normal nouns or verbs.

Note: You might rarely see it in specific shop names or brand names.
Note2: In some songs or specific speaking styles, you might hear a slight “w” sound. However, in daily conversation, “o” is the standard.
