(1) Be careful with how to read the Kanji “降”!
The Kanji for “おります (get off)” and “ふります (rain/fall)” is the same: 降.
You need to choose the correct reading based on the context.
When it means “get off”:
👉 降ります is read as “お（ります）- orimasu”
When it means “rain / fall”:
👉 降ります is read as “ふ（ります）- furimasu”
(2) Two meanings of “よびます (yobimasu)”
We studied “よびます” in Vol.02 too! Do you remember?
Let’s look at the example sentence from Vol.02 again:
なまえ を よびます。 (I call their name.)
💡 In this case, it means calling someone’s name to get their attention.
In this Vol.03, “よびます” has a slightly different meaning:
けいさつ を よびます。 (I call the police.)
💡 In this case, it means asking someone to come and help you.
Other common examples:
・タクシー を よびます。 (I call a taxi.)
・てんいん を よびます。 (I call a shop staff.)
(3) Two meanings of “おしえます (oshiemasu)”
We also studied “おしえます” in Vol.02.
The example sentence in Vol.02 was:
ことば を おしえます。 (I teach words.)
💡 In this case, it means to “teach” knowledge or skills.
Now, let’s look at the example sentence for Vol.03:
でんわばんごう を おしえます。 (I tell my phone number.)
💡 In this case, it means to “tell” or share information.
Other common examples:
・みち を おしえます。 (I show/tell the way.)
・なまえ を おしえます。 (I tell my name.)
