I made this video in the same format as the “Quick Response” (Chokai – Sokuji Outou) section of the JLPT N5 exam. It is the perfect practice before you take the JLPT exam!
Even if you are not taking the JLPT exam, this video is excellent for practicing daily Japanese conversations because it focuses on natural conversational responses. Pause or rewind anytime you need. If you feel the speed of the conversation is too fast, you can change it to a slower speed from the settings.

💡 Hint for Listening
Question 3:
Please be careful with time expressions!
2時 (ni-ji) vs 2時間 (ni-jikan)
- 2時 (ni-ji) = Points to a specific time. (e.g., 2 o’clock)
- 2時間 (ni-jikan) = Points to the length of time. (e.g., for 2 hours)
The meanings are completely different, so please watch out!
Question 10:
「いつ」 (itsu) = When
When you hear “いつ”, the question is asking about a specific time or date (points to a specific time).
Therefore, the correct answer should include time words like:
- 昨日 (kinou) = yesterday
- 2時 (ni-ji) = 2 o’clock
- 6月 (rokugatsu) = June
Be careful not to mix it up with the length of time (like 6時間 / roku-jikan)!
