💡Listening Points
Key Grammar:
- 〜てください (〜te kudasai) = Please do… (polite request/instruction)
- 〜ないでください (〜naide kudasai) = Please do not… (polite prohibition/instruction not to do something)
- 〜てはいけません (〜te wa ikemasen) = Must not do… / You cannot do… (prohibition)
First, let’s understand the question clearly.
The question was:
テストで何をしてはいけませんか。
(Tesuto de nani o shite wa ikemasen ka?)
What must you NOT do during the test?
Please be careful!
The question is asking for what is prohibited (〜てはいけません).
The teacher said:
ボールペンは使わないでください。
(Boorupen wa tsukawanaide kudasai.)
Please do not use a ballpoint pen.
「〜ないでください」 (〜naide kudasai) means the same as 「〜てはいけません」 (〜te wa ikemasen) here. Using a ballpoint pen is not allowed.
Therefore, the answer is 「ボールペンを使う」 (Boorupen o tsukau / Using a ballpoint pen).
