It’s time to study Kanji! In this lesson, I will introduce 12 essential Kanji related to positions and directions. You will see these basic Kanji everywhere in Japan. Let’s practice them step by step! 😊

Pay attention to the readings!
The reading of a Kanji changes depending on its meaning or the other Kanji it is combined with.
Example: 中 (Middle / Inside)
- 家（いえ）の中（なか） / ie no naka
= inside the house → The reading of “中” is “naka“. - 中学校（ちゅうがっこう） / chuugakkou
= junior high school / middle school → The reading of “中” is “chuu“.
We don’t read 家の中 “ie no chuu,” and we don’t say 中学校 “naka-gakkou”. Be careful!
